Message from PTA President 

We are still looking for a PTA president. This job can be shared between two people or filled by a community member like a grandparent, aunt, uncle, or local business person.

Here are some of the reasons I’ve been given over the last two months of why people can’t step up. . .

I work so I don’t have time

• 4/9 board members currently work full time

• 4/9 work part time

I have kids and I’m really busy

• Okay, we all have kids that’s why we are together in elementary school

• We are all busy. What about sharing the job with a friend and splitting the workload?

I’m learning to say NO and my husband/wife/partner isn’t supportive of volunteer work

Saying NO to PTA volunteerism and allowing it to be suspended also means. . .

• NO Croce Wear

• NO Flea Market

• NO Movie Night

• NO Read-A-Thon

• NO Ice Cream Sales

• NO discretionary money for teachers

• NO money to purchase extra printer cartridges

• NO money to replace broken/outdated technology

• NO scholarships for Camp Campbell

• NO discretionary money for science

• NO Art and Ice Cream Festival

• NO art and music through FAME

• NO Visual Performing Arts Assemblies

• NO Accelerated Reading and Math Programs

• NO Talent Show

• NO Halloween Party

• NO Egg Hunt

• NO Lunch for students after the Hoe Down

• NO Health and Wellness

• NO Super Saturday Football Game

• NO AR Reading Awards

• NO Book Fair

• NO Reading Night

• NO E-Flyer

• NO PTA Website

• NO Testing Snacks

Why can’t someone on the current board do it?

The current board members are prepared to fill positions if someone will step up to lead. It’s much easier to lead with qualified, knowledgeable people working with you. We also need to start cultivating new leadership within our community so PTA can be sustained over time.

Why can’t our current president do it again?

She has reached her two year term limit and our By-Laws prevent any board member from serving more than two years in any position.

Someone will step up at the last minute, they always do.

What if everyone is thinking the same thing? Then the last, last minute never comes and our PTA is suspended for a year.

E-Flyer Program Changes

E-Flyers are now being delivered through BigTent. Why? Because the individual email account we were using to send over 400 emails weekly could not handle all of the email traffic. They basically shut us down! Oh well, live and learn!

BigTen CAN handle this amount of email traffic-Whew!

Every E-Flyer participant has been added to the Leo R. Croce Elementary BigTent group. An email is sitting in your "in box" waiting for you to confirm your enrollment. It's that easy!

The added benefit of becoming part of the Croce online community is that you will also receive other school and PTA news and event information delivered right to your email.

We raise thousands of dollars every year which are reinvested into family events, educational programs, and structural improvements available to all Croce students.
